Everything below concerns preclinical research. We keep the language plain, cite what the science says, and separate well-supported claims from open questions.

The full name often given is N-hexanoic-Tyr-Ile-(6)-aminohexanoic amide. This name indicates a chain containing tyrosine, isoleucine, and a six-carbon amino acid derivative. Databases list a CAS Registry Number and a molecular formula for the compound. The peptide is small compared with proteins, and its structure allows it to be studied in cell cultures and animal models. Exact identity depends on the supplier's synthesis and purification process. Minor impurities can remain after synthesis.
Chemically, dihexa belongs to a broader group of angiotensin IV analogs. Researchers have modified the natural peptide to alter stability, binding, or distribution. Such changes can affect how the molecule behaves in experiments. The parent peptide angiotensin IV is involved in various physiological processes, but the modified analog is not identical to it. Public summaries sometimes blur the distinction between the natural fragment and the synthetic research compound. This distinction matters when interpreting study results.
Dihexa is a synthetic peptide that has been examined in laboratory and animal research. Its design is based on angiotensin IV, a naturally occurring peptide fragment produced in the body. The short name dihexa appears in scientific papers and online discussions, while the full chemical name describes a modified peptide chain. It is not a vitamin, mineral, or plant-derived compound. Suppliers typically present it as a research chemical rather than an approved medicine.
Most published reports on dihexa come from cell cultures and animal models. Studies have examined markers of synapse formation, dendritic spine density, and performance on learning tasks in rodents. Proposed mechanisms center on hepatocyte growth factor and its c-Met receptor, with additional attention to angiotensin IV-related pathways. These findings are experimental and have not been confirmed as clinical benefits in humans. The literature often uses different tasks and endpoints, which complicates direct comparison across studies.
Regulatory status differs by country, but dihexa is generally not approved as a therapeutic product. It is often sold as a research chemical, which means purity, labeling, and handling fall outside pharmaceutical drug standards. Some jurisdictions restrict the sale of peptides intended for human consumption. Researchers and suppliers may therefore face different legal requirements depending on location. Import rules and customs enforcement can also affect how such compounds move across borders.
Human safety data are sparse. No widely accepted dosing regimen, long-term safety profile, or clinical efficacy endpoint has been established. Published animal results can suggest directions for further study, but species differences and study design limit direct translation. Open questions include bioavailability, blood-brain barrier penetration, metabolism, and whether observed effects arise from a single target or multiple pathways. Replication across independent laboratories remains an important benchmark for evaluating the strength of preclinical claims.

Research on dihexa has primarily used rodent models and cultured cells. Common endpoints include dendritic spine density, synaptic protein expression, and performance on maze or avoidance tasks. Some studies report improvements in cognitive measures after scopolamine-induced deficits or in aged animals. These findings are interesting but come from a small body of work, and independent laboratories have not consistently replicated all reported effects. Larger, preregistered studies would help clarify which results are robust.
Human data for dihexa remain absent from peer-reviewed clinical literature. As a result, questions about absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion, and long-term safety are unresolved. Discussions often appear in nootropic forums, where anecdotal reports cannot substitute for controlled trials. Researchers have called for more rigorous pharmacokinetic and toxicological studies before any clinical evaluation. Until such data exist, dihexa is best described as an investigational research compound rather than a proven intervention.
The proposed mechanism for dihexa centers on hepatocyte growth factor, or HGF, and its receptor c-Met. HGF signaling is involved in cell growth, survival, and synapse formation. Dihexa has been described as an HGF mimetic or modulator in preclinical literature. Whether it binds c-Met directly, increases HGF availability, or acts through another route remains uncertain. This mechanistic uncertainty is a recurring theme in reviews of the compound, and no single molecular model has been confirmed across independent laboratories.
Discussion in the literature often separates direct receptor activation from downstream growth-factor modulation. Dihexa is not simply an angiotensin receptor blocker or a classic nootropic drug. Its proposed action may depend on endogenous HGF levels, which vary by tissue and physiological state. Questions remain about brain penetration, metabolic stability, and active metabolites. Reviews note that mechanistic claims should be treated as hypotheses until supported by independent studies. That distinction is important when interpreting promotional claims or early laboratory findings.
The leading hypothesis for dihexa centers on hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) and its receptor, c-Met. In cell-based assays, dihexa has been reported to potentiate HGF-dependent signaling. That pathway influences cell growth, survival, and motility. Because c-Met signaling is widespread, the proposed mechanism is broad rather than specific to neurons. The exact binding site and stoichiometry remain areas of active investigation, and independent replication is limited. This uncertainty limits firm conclusions about how the compound acts in living organisms.
Animal studies have examined dihexa in models of cognitive impairment, synaptic plasticity, and memory. Some reports describe improved performance on maze or avoidance tasks after administration. These findings are preclinical and often involve small samples, varied routes, and differing formulations. Results in rodents do not establish effects in humans. The absence of published randomized controlled trials in people is a major gap in the evidence base. Observational reports and user accounts do not substitute for controlled clinical data.
Analytical confirmation generally combines a separation method with a detection method. Reverse-phase high-performance liquid chromatography can assess purity, while mass spectrometry supports molecular identity. For research-grade material, a certificate of analysis may report a batch-specific purity value, but it does not guarantee biological activity or safety. Regulatory frameworks vary by country; many jurisdictions treat dihexa as a research chemical not intended for human consumption. Purchasers should verify local rules and supplier documentation. The absence of official standards makes independent testing and careful record-keeping important for laboratory work.
In laboratory settings, dihexa is typically handled as a research chemical rather than a pharmaceutical product. Suppliers may provide it as a lyophilized powder or in solution, and purity is often stated as a percentage determined by chromatographic analysis. Because independent verification is uncommon, researchers generally rely on certificates of analysis, which may include high-performance liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry data. The absence of pharmacopeial monographs means that identity, purity, and impurity profiles can vary between batches and suppliers.

By 1948, Lilly employees worked in 35 countries, most of them as sales representatives in Latin America, Asia, and Africa. After three generations of Lilly family leadership under company founder, Col. Eli Lilly, his son, Josiah K. Lilly Sr., and two grandsons, Eli Lilly Jr. and Josiah K. Lilly Jr., the company announced a reorganization in 1944 that prepared the way for future expansion and the eventual separation of company management from its ownership. In 1945, Lilly began a major expansion effort that included two manufacturing operations in Indianapolis. The company purchased the massive Curtiss-Wright propeller plant on Kentucky Avenue, west of the company's McCarty Street operation. When renovation was completed in mid-1947, the Kentucky Avenue location manufactured antibiotics and capsules and housed the company's shipping department. By 1948, Lilly employed nearly 7,000 people. After World War II, patents and research records belonging to IG Farben, which included Farbwerke Hoechst, were confiscated by the Allies. The U.S. Department of Commerce made the expropriated patent rights available to American pharmaceutical companies for $1; Lilly acquired the rights to methadone. In 1947, Lilly became the first distributor of methadone in the United States and marketed it under the trade name Dolophine. Methadone is an analgesic that is also widely used in the treatment of opioid use disorder.
These are sympatholytic drugs that block the effects of adrenergic alpha receptors while having little or no effect on beta receptors. Drugs belonging to this group can have very different effects, however, depending on whether they primarily block alpha-1 receptors, alpha-2 receptors, or both. Alpha-2 receptors, as described elsewhere in this article, are frequently located on norepinephrine-releasing neurons themselves and have inhibitory effects on them; consequently, blockage of alpha-2 receptors usually results in an increase in norepinephrine release. Alpha-1 receptors are usually located on target cells and have excitatory effects on them; consequently, blockage of alpha-1 receptors usually results in blocking some of the effects of norepinephrine. Drugs such as phentolamine that act on both types of receptors can produce a complex combination of both effects. In most cases when the term "alpha blocker" is used without qualification, it refers to a selective alpha-1 antagonist. Selective alpha-1 blockers have a variety of uses. Since one of their effects is to inhibit the contraction of the smooth muscle in the prostate, they are often used to treat symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia. Alpha-blockers also likely help people pass their kidney stones. Their effects on the central nervous system make them useful for treating generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, and posttraumatic stress disorder. They may, however, have significant side effects, including a drop in blood pressure.

Although Descartes agreed with the contemporary position, that a vacuum does not occur in nature, the success of his namesake coordinate system and more implicitly, the spatial–corporeal component of his metaphysics would come to define the philosophically modern notion of empty space as a quantified extension of volume. By the ancient definition however, directional information and magnitude were conceptually distinct.
== Release == Stargirl premiered on DC Universe on May 18, 2020, with the first season consisting of 13 episodes. The series was originally intended to premiere on May 11, seven days before its official release. The series was released in 4K Ultra HD on DC Universe. In November 2019, The CW announced to broadcast each episode the day after it premieres on the streaming service, with each episode available to stream on The CW's online platforms after its broadcast. Stargirl started airing on The CW on May 19, 2020, at 8 pm. Some episodes have content removed when they air on The CW to allow for the network's commercials, notably approximately eight minutes in each of the first two episodes. DC Universe streamed the full episodes, and Johns said starting with the third episode, both releases are "almost identical". The series release plans shifted and it stayed in post-production longer to accommodate the broadcast on The CW to accomplish the adjustments that had to be made. Scenes removed in the first episode from The CW broadcast included: establishing shots of Barbara Whitmore's new job, and Pat's auto shop; an interaction between Courtney and Cindy Burman in the halls of Blue Valley High School that Alex Zalben of Decider said was "clear set-up for later" but helped strengthen Courtney's emotional arc; and Mark Ashworth's scenes as "a mysterious, extremely creepy bearded janitor", which Zalben said was more of "a fun Easter egg that will pay dividends down the road"; and Courtney finding a newspaper article about Starman and Stripesy.
== Aspergillus flavus == Aspergillus flavus is a fungus of the family Trichocomaceae with a worldwide distribution. The mold lives in soil, surviving off dead plant and animal matter, but spreads through the air via airborne conidia. This fungus grows in long branched hyphae and is capable of surviving on numerous food sources including corn and peanuts. Aspergillus species commonly cause disease in humans and other animals either through mycotoxicosis (poisoning) or through fungal infections. Aflatoxin B1 is a key contributor to the toxicity of foods contaminated with the fungus. A. flavus is capable of parasitizing many host species. In humans, Aspergillus flavus along with Aspergillus fumigatus are common agents of fungal infections referred to as aspergillosis. These species primarily infect the lungs of immune-compromised patients, but A. flavus infections of the skin, eye, and other organs also occur. Unlike many mold species, Aspergillus flavus prefers hot and dry conditions; its optimal growth at 37 °C (99 °F) contributes to its pathogenicity in humans. Species that do not grow well at body temperature cannot typically infect humans.
The next incarnation of King Crimson was radically different from the previous configurations. Fripp's four new recruits were free-improvising percussionist Jamie Muir; drummer Bill Bruford, who had left Yes at a critical and commercial peak in their career in favour of the "darker" Crimson; bassist and vocalist John Wetton, who left Family; and violinist, keyboardist and flautist David Cross, whom Fripp had met when he was invited to a rehearsal of Waves, a band Cross was working in. Fripp and Wetton were this incarnation's primary composers, each writing segments independently and fitting together those which they found compatible. With Sinfield gone, the band asked Wetton's friend Richard Palmer-James, formerly of Supertramp, to be their new lyricist. Unlike Sinfield, Palmer-James was not an official member of King Crimson, having no involvement with the band other than writing lyrics, which he would mail to them from his home in Germany. Following a period of rehearsals, King Crimson resumed touring on 13 October 1972 at the Zoom Club in Frankfurt, with the band's penchant for improvisation and Muir's startling stage presence gaining them renewed press attention.

== Clinical significance == This ligament is an important anatomical landmark of the duodenojejunal flexure, separating the upper and lower gastrointestinal tracts. For example, bloody vomit or melena, black tarry stools, usually indicate a gastrointestinal bleed from a location in the upper gastrointestinal tract. In contrast, hematochezia, bright red blood or clots in the stool, usually indicates gastrointestinal bleeding from the lower part of the gastrointestinal tract. It is an especially important landmark to note when looking at the bowel for the presence of malrotation of the gut, a syndrome often suspected in young children when they have episodes of recurrent vomiting. Visualising a normal location of the ligament of Treitz in radiological images is critical in ruling out malrotation of the gut in a child; it is abnormally located when malrotation is present. During a Whipple's procedure, commonly used to treat pancreatic cancer by removing the pancreas, duodenum, and part of the jejunum, the ligament of Treitz is separated from the duodenum and preserved. When the remaining jejunum is anastamosed with the pylorus of the stomach, it may be passed through the ligament. Superior mesenteric artery syndrome (SMA) is an extremely rare life-threatening condition that can either be congenital and chronic, or induced and acute. SMA Syndrome is characterised by compression of the duodenum between the abdominal aorta and the superior mesenteric artery, and may—when congenital—result from a short suspensory muscle.
There was a history and belief in England that the foreign manager could not be successful. Now you have a different feeling, now you think only foreign managers can be successful. That is wrong as well. I believe I contributed to the change in attitude about foreign managers. That can look pretentious but I don't think it is at all. I can show some articles where people tried to prove that the foreign managers can never win an English championship. That has changed and I have certainly contributed to that. But I am also one of the few who also defends English managers.
Like most KWS institute directors, Haber had accrued a large discretionary fund. It was his wish that it be distributed to the dismissed staff to facilitate their emigration. Hahn brokered a deal whereby 10 per cent of the funds would be allocated to Haber's people and the rest to KWS, but the Rockefeller Foundation insisted that the funds be used for their original scientific research or else be returned. In August 1933 the administrators of the KWS were alerted that several boxes of Rockefeller Foundation-funded equipment were about to be shipped to Herbert Freundlich, one of the department heads that Hahn had dismissed, who was now working in England. Ernst Telschow, a Nazi Party member, was in charge while Planck, the president of the KWS since 1930, was on vacation, and he ordered the shipment halted. Hahn complied, but he disagreed with the decision on the grounds that funds from abroad should not be diverted to military research, which the KWS was increasingly undertaking. When Planck returned from vacation, he ordered Hahn to expedite the shipment. Haber died on 29 January 1934. A memorial service was held on the first anniversary of his death. University professors were forbidden to attend, so they sent their wives in their place. Hahn, Planck and Joseph Koeth attended, and gave speeches. The ageing Planck did not seek re-election, and was succeeded in 1937 as president by Carl Bosch, a winner of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry and the chairman of the board of IG Farben, a company which had bankrolled the Nazi Party since 1932. Telschow became Secretary of the KWS.
=== Final weeks on the Gulf Coast === Filming resumed on July 19. The sandpit fight scene between Bosworth and pro wrestler Tom Magee was shot in Bay St. Louis. It was aborted after a first attempt where Bosworth clipped Magee's cheek with a punch, and finished two weeks later on August 9. While a King Features gossip column claimed that the botch had led to a real scuffle, Bosworth himself assured that the accident had been handled in a civil manner by both. The final scene shot on the Gulf Coast was a gas station explosion on Daisy Vestry Road in Latimer on August 10.
=== Controversy over ballot traceability === The Election Commission also faced allegations that the barcodes and QR codes on the election ballots compromised voter secrecy and might be unconstitutional. The controversy began after social media users analyzed the codes from photos of ballot papers, discovering that they were unique per ballot and could be matched to the counterfoil containing individual voters' signatures, theoretically allowing any individual's vote to be determined. On 14 February, the Election Commission acknowledged that the ballot codes could indeed be used to link voters to their ballots, but defended the process as a legal measure intended to prevent voter fraud, stating that the ballots, counterfoils, and voter registration data were stored separately. In response, critics argued that the possibility of voter traceability is already inherently unconstitutional, with many citing as precedent the Constitutional Court decision nullifying the 2006 election due to voting booths being positioned with voters' backs towards the public. Legal scholar Prinya Thaewanarumitkul also pointed out that the Election Commission's regulations actually require counterfoils to be kept with the ballots and argued that regardless of storage, the ballots could be photographed during the counting process. On 13 February, 12 petitions were submitted to the Office of the Ombudsman, which on 16 February sent a letter to the Election Commission asking it to address the complaints within seven days, which was later extended by seven more days on the Commission's request.
